Best Practices in Addressing Medical Marijuana in 2019:
Cannibis Company Complications and Conundrums Confronted!

Presenters:
Dr. Asare Christian, MD, MPH

Associate Outpatient Medical Director at Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network
State Licensed Cannibis Prescriber

Deirdre Kamber

Attorney, Kamber Law Group

From the “Just Say No” culture of the 1980’s, we have witnessed a 180 change in the marijuana laws. Now, with multiple federal bills proposed in the House and Senate, enacted Pennsylvania medical cannabis laws, state-afforded anti-discrimination protections, and multi-state challenges, it is more important than ever for HR professionals to stay informed on this topic.  Since the end of 2018, we have seen continuous changes in case law which impacts how each of us address medical cannabis at work.

We also have witnessed tremendous changes in the very nature of marijuana itself. From genetic alteration to evolutions in drug administration, marijuana of the last thirty years looks and smells nothing like the marijuana of today. It is imperative for employers to learn what to consider, and what not to consider, in managing this issue in the workplace.

We are pleased to welcome Dr. Asare Christian, MD, MPH, a state-licensed medical cannabis prescriber and the Associate Outpatient Medical Director at Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network. He will be discussing the medical aspects and impact of medical and non-medical cannabis. We also will be welcoming back Attorney Deirdre Kamber Todd, Esq., to talk about minute-to-minute compliance and best practice tools in medical cannabis in the workplace.
