Disability Awareness:
How HR Can Ensure Onboarding, Retention and Future Planning

Ann Burke
   Business Services Counselor
Office of Vocational Rehab

Where do you access an untapped talent pool for your current hiring needs, retention of current workers, and affirmative action plans? How can you become known as a disability-inclusive workplace? Through disability awareness, HR can ensure the onboarding, retention, and strategic career planning of workers with disabilities.

The PA Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR) can assist employers regarding a diverse workforce of individuals with disabilities for
* recruitment * new hires, including accommodation ideas
* retention of your existing workforce and issues concerning aging
and * forging career pathways to recruit youth.

This breakfast presentation will provide businesses with specific, easy-to-utilize opportunities for innovative ways to increase positive outcomes in employment of workers with disabilities.   For HR and PA Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, this is an exciting time of increased collaboration across all partners in the workforce system and businesses of all sizes, from small businesses to large corporations. OVR is a great resource for federal contractors.
